Saint Kateri Tekakwitha’s feast day is on July 14. She’s the first Native American to be cannonized as a saint, and lead an interesting life. As a Mohawk who converted to Roman Catholicism, she was ostracized by her own community. When she was young she caught small pox, and as the story goes, upon her death the scars on her face from the small pox disappeared. Also, known as Lily of the Mohawks, Saint Kateri lived a life of chastity and faith despite the opposition of those around her.
