This little piece of art, the Many names of Mary, was just a fun little project that I used as a distraction from my actual work on Monday afternoon. But I shared it in a prayer group on Facebook, which is called the Blessed Mother Mary, since it seemed so appropriate. To my surprise it got a ton of reactions and comments almost immediately.
The original is black ink on watercolor, and is really simple in design. It’s an outline of Our Blessed Mother Mary on just a two colored background, and the entire picture is made of many of the names we have for Mary. In all, the picture contains 130 names for Mary. Some are really well known such as Immaculate Conception or Queen of Heaven. Others are new to me, like Tower of Ivory, and Spotless Dove of Beauty. All her names are reminders of her most honored place next to our Savior Jesus in heaven, and the unique role she played in our salvation story.
Here it is framed in an 8×10 frame in my little reading and praying corner!
After the many requests for this print, I scanned it in at high resolution, digitally edited it and made it into a digital file you could print from home. The image size is an oval 7 inches tall, and 5 1/4 inches across. I also made a version for you to print cards featuring The Many Names of Mary, which prints two cards to a page. You print it on an 8 x 11 page and cut it in half, and then fold the cards in half.
I don’t typically sell my artwork of this nature- usually it’s religious resources for your kids, so I’m going to post this at $3 for the digital downloads.
