Lent Stations of the Cross

40 Days of Free Lenten Printables: Stations 1 and 2 Printable Grottos

I’m really excited about these.  I love making 3-D things out of paper, it just takes coloring to a whole new level.  So, for the next few days I’ll be rolling out some 3-D printable Stations of the Cross Grottos!

These are

  • small 3 inches tall (so easier to store than big ones),
  • printable (so you can easily print new ones if the old ones get eaten by a 1 year old.  What? that doesn’t happen to you?)
  • colorable (so your kids can be interested in the images and engaged)
  • awesome (ok that one is just an opinion)

Print them, color them, assemble them and use them in your home for Stations of the Cross.  I wish I could post them all in one day in one printable, but alas, I honestly haven’t finished them yet (maybe I just need more coffee).  Plus, it’d be a lot of crafting to make all 14 stations in one day.  So, two a day is what you’ll have for the next 7 days of Lent.  These print one sided and are pretty simple to assemble. See the instructions below.

Step 1: Print on cardstock and color (should I offer these in watercolors also? Let me know in the comments.)

Step 1 colorStep 2: Cut out.

Step 4: Secure the tabs to the back using tape, glue dots, or glue stick.

Step 5: Admire your work, and reflect on the first two stations of the cross: Jesus is condemned to death, and Jesus bears his cross.

You can set these up easily anywhere in the house: around a kitchen table, around your whole house on various tables and surfaces, outside on your deck, or hang them. The options are the same as for any Stations of the Cross set, except these are free (except for the paper and glue dots), and printable. I love the fancy Stations you can buy like this one, but that’s not feasible for us.

If you’ve never done Stations of the Cross because you think it sounds scary and complicated, then this is the year to start. It is a wonderful way to personally be involved in the passion of Christ.  Reflect, pray, look at the pictures (even my kid cartoon ones), and feel the immense gratitude toward our Savior for the sacrifice he made for us.

Thank you for visiting and may you have a wonderful Lenten Season!

You have done an amazing job on these printables and I am ever so grateful that you are offering them for FREE!!! What a blessing to a small church with a small ministry budget. The kids are going to love these!!!!! I will be back for Stations 13 and 14 🙂 May you have a blessed Easter, as well!!

This is an awesome resource, thank you. I will be using it with my 6-9 year olds this afternoon, so we can have the stations of the cross up in the children’s atrium!
Looking forward to using other resources like these.
Happy Easter and God bless you.
