Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and starts what we Catholics call Holy Week. I’m really excited about the printables I have for you this week. I’ve designed a unique 3-D piece for each day of Holy Week. Each 3-D printable can be used just as a fun craft or you can assemble them into a Holy Week mobile. Today I have a Jesus Paper Doll and Donkey for Palm Sunday!

“And many spread their garments on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. and those who went before and those who followed cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Mark 11:8-9
The paper doll Jesus is designed similarly to my Saint Paper Dolls, and is easy to assemble. First print the printable on cardstock. Color it in and cut out the pieces.
Fold your Jesus paper doll at the top of his head, and at the bottom two tabs. Then secure the bottom tabs together using tape, glue dots, or glue stick.
The donkey is easy too! Fold him where the white rectangle meets the body pieces. Fold the top tab down and secure to the neck on the other side of the donkey.
Fold the leg pieces on the lines and at the tops of the legs, and secure with tape, glue dots or glue stick. This should form a square from the front. They look like this.
Now stick the legs onto the body (you know, using tape, glue dots, or glue) and wala! You’ve got a 3D donkey for your paper doll Jesus to ride.
Aren’t they so cute?
These are not recommended for 1 year olds who chew on everything. Luckily I snapped a few pictures before Jesus and the donkey met their doom. No worries though, I’ll mostly likely craft another one tomorrow.
If you decide to play with it (instead of make a mobile), the donkey even fits peg dolls! Palm Sunday is about Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey, people throw palms down for his donkey to walk on, and call him Hosanna. I figured he would probably look pretty happy (certainly not sad/passion Christ yet). The only happy Jesus peg doll I have is this Sacred Heart one I made using Lacy’s Printable Peg Dolls. (they really are as easy as they look).
Honestly, this worked for a while, but our peg doll Jesus was a little too heavy for cardstock donkey. If you expect to use the donkey for extended peg doll play, I would recommend reinforcing his leg sections with a piece of real cardboard. A big square stuck in the middle seemed to work. Or if you want to go all out, glue some wooden blocks into the donkey’s leg squares.
“Wait didn’t you say something about a mobile?”
Oh yea. If you want to build a mobile, print this cool Holy Week banner/mobile ring.

Color it in, tape the ends together overlapping a little, so that it ends up being a big circle.
Now you can use it as is, for a table center piece, or whatever else you can think of.
Or you can hole punch it in four places on top (at each quarter), tie some string through it and hang it in preparation of adding mobile pieces throughout the week with me. Hang your Palm Sunday Jesus and Donkey by hole punching through the palm leaves next to “H.” Loop your string through the top of Jesus and tie to the mobile.
It’s a little lopsided right now, but it’ll even out as we progress through this week.
Here’s sneak peak at where we’re headed with this mobile:
