She has some interesting stories about her, one being that she was sustained as an infant by a white cow with red ears. Saint Brigid was known to be beautiful and asked that God remove her beauty so no one would want to marry her. She lived a chaste life, and worked with Saint Conleth to found a school of art specializing in metal work and illumination. She’s from Ireland and it’s said that Saint Patrick was the priest who heard her vows. I think it’s fun imagining these saints knowing each other.
Saint Brigid is often shown holding a Saint Brigid cross, which is made from reeds, a lamp, a cozier, or a church. Her feast day is February 1st and she’s the patron saint of Ireland, dairymaids, cattle, midwives and new born babies!

Saint Brigid.
You were a woman of peace.
You brought harmony where there was conflict.
You brought light to the darkness.
You brought hope to the downcast.
May the mantle of your peace cover those who are troubled and anxious, and may peace be firmly rooted in our hearts and in our world.
Inspire us to act justly and to reverence all God has made.
Brigid you were a voice for the wounded and the weary.
Strengthen what is weak within us.
Calm us into a quietness that heals and listens.
May we grow each day into greater wholeness in mind, body and spirit.
Amen.
