I really, really don’t want almsgiving to be forgotten. Sometimes it’s easy to focus on prayer and fasting and forget that almsgiving is just as important during Lent. So I present to you…
Almsgiving Notebooking page
This is really an open ended ‘worksheet’ for your kids to think about how they are doing with almsgiving this Lent. Write or draw a picture of what you have already given in the heart. Write or draw a picture of what you are still planning to give in the thought bubble. We are halfway through our Lenten journey this year, so I hope your heart isn’t empty, and likewise I hope you still have something planned to give as well.
I’ve mentioned it before- your almsgiving doesn’t have to be money (a lot of kids don’t have this). Instead, encourage them to do nice things for their siblings, or help a neighbor. With all the snow we’ve been getting, maybe they could help by shoveling snow, or even just bringing in an elderly neighbors mail, so they don’t have to go out in the cold. Ways to be helpful and give time are endless. Challenge them to think of their own way to give of themselves!
