March 7 is the feast day of Saints Perpetua and Felicity. They were both martyrs and suffered a gruesome fate, one probably not worth going into the details about with your younger children. What made them extraordinary was their persistence in faith through persecution which they knew would result in their death despite all the reasons they had to live. Saint Perpetua had just had a baby, and Saint Felicity was still pregnant when they were imprisoned for their christian beliefs. Both were punished for being Christians by being thrown into an arena with wild animals and gladiators. Hence, they are often depicted with a wild animal (in my coloring page, a bull).

As we remember these two Saints, lets remind our children how wonderfully blessed we are to live in a time and place where we can freely worship the one true God. May we all pray to have the strength of Saints Perpetua and Felicity, should we ever face trials for our faith.
Thanks and God bless,
